It is not navigating dynamically around a changing warehouse floor, picking arbitrary SKUs, or making judgment calls about damaged inventory. Agility's own roadmap for the rest of 2026 is to get Digit reliably moving items between two known locations with more consistent positioning — which tells you this is still fundamentally point-A-to-point-B robotics wearing a humanoid chassis, not general-purpose labor replacement.
Why warehouses work and factories mostly don't (yet)
Warehouse logistics offers three things factory floors typically don't: structured, repeatable motion paths; forgiving tolerances (a tote landing a few centimeters off position on a conveyor is fine; a part misaligned by a few centimeters on an assembly line is a defect); and high-volume, low-variance tasks where a 0.3–0.4 FTE replacement ratio per robot still generates positive ROI at scale.
