Xiaomi 18 Fold debuts at IFA 2026 with wide foldable design and XRing O3 chip, launches September 7

Xiaomi made its biggest international hardware debut at IFA 2026 in Berlin, showcasing over 380 products and pulling back the curtain on the Xiaomi 18 Fold — the company's first flagship smartphone built on its in-house XRing O3 chip. The phone officially launches in China on September 7, 2026, as reported by GSMArena and 9to5Google from the show floor.

A Wide Foldable Built on Xiaomi Silicon

The 18 Fold adopts the short-and-wide “passport” form factor that Samsung popularized with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 this summer, but with a key design distinction: more rounded corners, which Xiaomi says improves ergonomics for extended use. The outer cover display measures 5.38 inches, while the inner foldable panel stretches to 7.58 inches with a peak brightness of 4,000 nits and dual-layer Ultra-Thin Glass for durability.

At the heart of the device is Xiaomi's XRing O3 — a 3nm mobile platform featuring a deca-core CPU with two C1-Ultra cores clocked at 4.35GHz, four C1-Premium cores at 3.68GHz, and four C1-Pro cores at 3.15GHz, paired with a 16-core G2-Ultra NX GPU. Early benchmark results show the XRing O3 outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. The phone pairs that silicon with up to 16GB of LPDDR6 RAM — among the first smartphones to use this new memory standard — and storage options up to 1TB of UFS 4.0.

Camera, Battery, and Build

The camera system is co-developed with Leica: a 200-megapixel Sony IMX800 primary sensor with optical image stabilization, a 50-megapixel ultrawide, and a 50-megapixel telephoto with a 5x periscope zoom. A 20MP front camera sits on the cover display.

The 6,000mAh dual-cell battery supports 67W wired charging — achieving a full charge in 37 minutes — and 50W wireless. Xiaomi claims 1.2-meter drop resistance via a new dragon-bone hinge mechanism and Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 protection, with an IP68 water resistance rating expected. The phone ships with HyperOS 4 and Xiaomi’s MiMo on-device AI model.

Xiaomi’s Largest International Push

The IFA 2026 appearance marks Xiaomi’s largest standalone overseas exhibition to date. Beyond the 18 Fold, the company showcased three electric vehicles and positioned IFA as the launch pad for its “Human × Car × Home” ecosystem — an integrated platform connecting smartphones, smart home devices, and electric vehicles. IFA 2026 runs through September 8 in Berlin, with global pricing and availability details expected at the September 7 China launch event.
