PixVerse closes $439M Series C extension with Alibaba backing

PixVerse, the Singapore-based video generation startup, has closed its Series C extension with a total of $439 million raised, pushing its valuation past $2 billion. The fresh capital arrives as competition in AI video generation intensifies, with ByteDance, Runway, and Midjourney all racing to capture the same market.
Who's backing it
The extension added Alibaba, Lollapalooza Capital, Ivy Capital, Grand Mount Capital, Eastern Bell Capital, Mirae Asset, BlueFocus, and CloudAlpha to the cap table, joining the initial CDH Investments-led tranche of approximately $300 million closed in March 2026. The Alibaba relationship carries particular strategic weight — the e-commerce and cloud giant is also a deployment partner, and PixVerse is expected to integrate deeply with Alibaba's enterprise stack.
Three model lines, 150 million users
Founded in 2023 by Wang Changhu, a former ByteDance computer vision engineer, and Jaden Xie, an ex-Lighthouse Capital executive, PixVerse has built a three-tier product architecture. The V-Series targets consumers and API developers with video generation at up to 4K resolution. The C-Series handles professional film production workflows. And the R-Series world models are designed for game development studios that need persistent, navigable 3D environments rather than linear video clips.
The company claims 150 million registered users and 15 million monthly active users — scale that justifies serious enterprise attention. API pricing sits at $4.80 per minute for image-to-video generation with integrated audio, positioning PixVerse below the top tier of Western competitors on cost.
Where the money goes
PixVerse says the funding will support a new V-Series model release, an updated world model, geographic expansion, and enterprise go-to-market hiring. The competitive field is crowded: ByteDance's Seedance, Kling AI, and Video Rebirth on the Asian side; Runway, Midjourney, and Luma in the West. With a new model generation due before year-end and Alibaba as both investor and distribution channel, PixVerse is positioning itself as the infrastructure-ready option for teams that need video generation at production scale, as first reported by TechCrunch.
