GTA 6 pre-orders open June 25 as Rockstar confirms November 19 launch

Rockstar Games announced this week that pre-orders for Grand Theft Auto VI will open on June 25, 2026 — simultaneously across the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Amazon, GameStop, Best Buy, and Walmart. The game releases on November 19, 2026, exclusively on PlayStation 5 (including PS5 Pro) and Xbox Series X|S. No PC release date has been announced.

Pricing and Editions: Details on June 25

Rockstar did not announce pricing alongside the pre-order date; specific edition names and costs will be revealed when stores go live on June 25. Industry expectations point to a standard edition around $79.99, with a premium tier — likely bundling GTA Online content and additional perks — expected near $99.99. Multiple editions are anticipated, following the tiered structure Rockstar used for GTA V. Any pre-order bonuses will also be disclosed at that time.

Official Cover Art Unveiled

Alongside the pre-order announcement, Rockstar released the official cover art for GTA VI, rendered in the franchise's signature multi-panel collage format and soaked in the purple and pink palette that defined Trailer 2. Protagonists Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval occupy center stage, joined by Vice City entrepreneur Boobie Ike and bank robber Raul Bautista across the grid. Lucia is the franchise's first female playable protagonist — a landmark for the series.

Twelve Years in the Making

GTA VI has been in active development for roughly 12 years, making it one of the most expensive entertainment productions in history. Its predecessor, GTA V, launched in 2013 and has shipped more than 210 million copies across three console generations. Rockstar set in Vice City — a fictional Miami — with Lucia and Jason running a Bonnie-and-Clyde-style criminal partnership at the center of the main narrative.

No PC at Launch

Console exclusivity at launch is standard Rockstar practice — GTA V did not arrive on PC until 18 months after its console debut. A PC version of GTA VI is expected eventually, but no window has been announced. For the foreseeable future, the November 2026 release is a PS5 and Xbox Series X|S exclusive.
